Avoid Fortradefx (fortradefx.ae/index): DFSA Issues Public Scam Warning

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has issued a public scam warning concerning Fortradefx (fortradefx.ae/index), advising investors that fraudsters are impersonating Fortrade (DIFC) Limited, a legitimate DFSA-authorised financial firm.

According to the DFSA, the scammers are using the name “Fortradefx”, a fraudulent website, and unofficial email addresses to deceive members of the public into believing they are dealing with the genuine regulated firm. The regulator has urged consumers not to respond to communications from the scammers and under no circumstances send money to any party connected with the scam. (dfsa.ae)

Fraudulent Website Identified by the DFSA

In its official alert, the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) identified the following fraudulent website:

  • fortradefx.ae/index

The regulator explained that the scammers attempted to impersonate the legitimate firm by:

  • Using the deceptive trading name “Fortradefx”, which closely resembles Fortrade (DIFC) Limited.
  • Creating the fraudulent website fortradefx.ae/index while misusing the legitimate firm’s name and purported DIFC address.
  • Sending emails from addresses ending in @fortradefx.ae, even though genuine communications from Fortrade (DIFC) Limited only originate from email addresses ending in @fortrade.com. (dfsa.ae)

DFSA Confirms the Website Is Not Genuine

The DFSA confirmed that:

  • Fortradefx is not incorporated or located in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
  • It has never been authorised or regulated by the DFSA.
  • The website fortradefx.ae/index does not belong to Fortrade (DIFC) Limited or any other DFSA-regulated entity.
  • Fortrade (DIFC) Limited has no association whatsoever with Fortradefx or any fraudulent investment schemes using its identity. (dfsa.ae)

The regulator further warned that the individuals operating this scam have never been authorised to provide financial services in or from the DIFC.

Protect Yourself Before Investing

Scammers increasingly impersonate legitimate financial institutions because investors naturally trust recognised brands and regulated firms.

Before opening an account, transferring money, or sharing personal information, investors should independently verify the firm’s regulatory status using trusted authorities such as the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), FINMA, Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

Additional research through Reddit and FastBull may also uncover reports from other investors. However, official regulatory warnings should always be treated as the most reliable source of information.

Red Flags of This Impersonation Scam

The DFSA alert highlights several warning signs commonly found in impersonation scams:

  • Websites that closely resemble legitimate financial firms.
  • Fake email addresses that imitate official company domains.
  • Misuse of a firm’s address, branding, or regulatory status.
  • Claims of being authorised without appearing on the regulator’s official register.
  • Pressure to deposit funds or begin trading immediately.

Whenever a financial firm contacts you unexpectedly, verify its details directly with the relevant regulator before taking any action.
