CausWAI App: FMA Warns Its Provider Is Not Authorised for Securities Transactions

Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) has issued an official warning concerning the provider of the CausWAI app. According to the regulator, the provider is not authorised to conduct securities transactions in Austria that require a licence and, specifically, is not permitted to execute orders on behalf of clients.

The warning is particularly important for anyone who has already deposited money, purchased cryptocurrency or transferred funds after being introduced to CausWAI. AssetVault Recovery considers the regulatory finding a serious warning sign and advises investors not to send additional money through or in connection with the app while its provider lacks the authorisation identified by the regulator.

What the FMA Says About CausWAI

The FMA published its warning on 11 August 2026. Unlike many regulatory warnings that identify a company together with a website, email address and purported business location, this announcement identifies the subject as the provider of the app “CausWAI.”

The FMA states that the provider is not authorised to conduct securities transactions in Austria that require a licence. More specifically, it is not permitted to execute orders on behalf of clients pursuant to Article 3(2)(6) of Austria’s Securities Supervision Act 2018 (WAG 2018).

The regulator published the warning pursuant to Article 92(11) WAG 2018.

That is the central regulatory fact victims need to understand. There is no need to infer a complicated corporate structure from the warning: the Austrian financial regulator has expressly stated that the provider behind CausWAI does not hold the authorisation required for the securities activity identified in its notice.

The Warning Does Not Identify a Website or Company

There is an important limitation to the information published by the FMA. Its warning does not identify a website domain, company name, email address or physical business address for the provider of CausWAI.

AssetVault therefore does not attribute any unrelated domain or corporate entity to CausWAI without supporting evidence.

For people who have already interacted with the app, however, their own records may contain information that is absent from the regulator’s notice. Account-opening messages, emails, payment instructions, cryptocurrency wallet addresses, bank beneficiary details, app-store information and conversations with representatives may help establish who was actually receiving or controlling the funds.

This is why preserving the original evidence is particularly important in a case where the regulator has identified an app but has not published the underlying provider’s full identity.

Already Used CausWAI? Focus on Where Your Money Went

If you have already transferred funds in connection with CausWAI, the most useful evidence is not simply the balance shown inside the app. What matters for tracing purposes is the actual movement of money outside the interface.

Preserve:

  • bank transfer receipts and beneficiary account details;
  • cryptocurrency wallet addresses supplied for deposits;
  • transaction IDs or TXIDs;
  • the blockchain network used for each cryptocurrency transfer;
  • exchange transaction and withdrawal records;
  • payment instructions provided by CausWAI representatives;
  • screenshots of the app, including balances and transaction histories;
  • withdrawal requests and responses;
  • emails, text messages, WhatsApp or Telegram conversations;
  • telephone numbers and usernames used by representatives;
  • documents or company details presented as evidence of legitimacy; and
  • records of any subsequent request for another payment.

For cryptocurrency payments, a TXID can establish when a transaction occurred, the sending and receiving addresses and the amount transferred on the relevant blockchain. If cryptocurrency was purchased through an exchange before being sent to a wallet supplied by another party, preserve the exchange records as well.

Cases involving questionable investment services often depend heavily on reconstructing this transaction trail. AssetVault has documented similar regulatory concerns involving platforms such as Cryptex Markets and CTI Capital, where investors likewise need to distinguish website or account representations from the underlying financial evidence.

Be Cautious About Further Payment Demands

Anyone who has encountered withdrawal difficulties after using CausWAI should be particularly careful before sending additional money.

A displayed account balance does not independently prove that equivalent funds are actually being held for the account holder. If someone claims that another payment is required to release an investment balance, independently verify that demand before paying.

This applies to requests described as withdrawal charges, taxes, verification payments, AML fees, insurance, security deposits, blockchain charges, account activation fees or similar requirements. The FMA warning itself does not state that CausWAI has demanded these particular payments, so they should not be attributed to the app without evidence from an individual case.

The practical rule is simpler: where a regulator has already warned that the provider is not authorised for the relevant securities activity, sending additional money in an attempt to unlock previously deposited funds creates further financial risk.

AssetVault has seen the importance of this distinction across other questionable investment operations, including its investigation of Division Capital and its warning concerning TheQuantaFlux. A promise shown on a platform should never replace verification of the actual financial trail.

AssetVault Recovery Assessment

The official evidence is straightforward. The FMA has identified the provider of CausWAI and stated that it is not authorised to conduct securities transactions in Austria requiring a licence. It specifically cannot execute orders on behalf of clients under the provision identified by the regulator.

The FMA does not expressly describe CausWAI as fraudulent or call it a scam. AssetVault Recovery nevertheless considers the official unauthorised-provider warning sufficient reason for investors to avoid sending money through or in connection with CausWAI.

For someone who has already transferred funds, the next priority should be evidence preservation. Do not delete the app, messages or transaction records before preserving copies of potentially useful information. If access to the account is still available, record the transaction history, deposit instructions, withdrawal activity and identifying information displayed inside it.
