Gobinao.com Scam: DFPI Identifies Fraudulent Crypto Trading Platform

Gobinao.com is a reported scam website identified by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) as part of a fraudulent cryptocurrency trading operation. Evidence published in the regulator’s Crypto Scam Tracker connects the domain to a platform through which a California resident reported losing approximately $20,000.

The DFPI record for Gobinao.com classifies the operation as both a Fraudulent Trading Platform and a Pig Butchering Scam. The regulator also published a screenshot supplied by the consumer showing the assets page of what DFPI explicitly describes as the fraudulent platform Gobinao.com.

Based on the exact domain’s inclusion in the regulator-maintained Crypto Scam Tracker, the consumer evidence published by DFPI, and the reported withdrawal-fee pattern, AssetVault Recovery considers gobinao.com a scam website. Anyone currently being asked to transfer cryptocurrency or pay additional fees connected with this platform should stop sending further money.

What DFPI Reports About Gobinao.com

The case published by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation concerns a California resident who reported dealing with a cryptocurrency trading platform identified as Mociobo/starsx.

According to DFPI, the platform operated at pc.mociobo.com/#/home. The resident deposited funds into the platform and subsequently attempted to withdraw money from the account.

That is when the reported problems emerged.

Instead of processing the withdrawal, the platform allegedly demanded that the victim pay various fees upfront. The consumer was unable to recover the funds, and DFPI reports that the website later became non-operational.

The victim reported losing approximately $20,000.

Importantly, screenshots the consumer supplied to DFPI revealed that the operation was not limited to pc.mociobo.com. The evidence also showed the use of two additional domains:

  • gobinao.com
  • static.f2nex.com

DFPI subsequently published a dedicated evidence page for Gobinao.com showing an assets page supplied by the victim. The regulator describes it as a screenshot from the fraudulent platform Gobinao.com.

Gobinao.com Was Part of a Multi-Domain Trading Operation

The use of several domains is important for anyone trying to reconstruct what happened after sending money.

The DFPI evidence connects pc.mociobo.com, gobinao.com and static.f2nex.com to the consumer’s interactions with the reported trading platform. That does not mean we should invent separate companies or operators behind each website. The evidence establishes that these domains appeared in connection with the same reported activity.

For victims, this means preserving every website address encountered during the investment process can be important.

A person may remember only the website where an account was originally created while overlooking another domain used for an account dashboard, assets page, payment process or other part of the operation.

DFPI itself advises consumers reporting cryptocurrency scams to provide all websites associated with a fraudulent platform. Browser history, emails, messages and screenshots can therefore help identify domains that might otherwise be forgotten.

The Withdrawal Fee Is a Major Warning Sign

The withdrawal stage is one of the most significant elements of the Gobinao.com case.

According to DFPI, the victim deposited funds but encountered demands for various upfront fees when attempting to withdraw money.

The regulator specifically cautions consumers about entities that suddenly impose unexplained charges when withdrawals are requested.

DFPI describes these demands as hallmark indicators of fraudulent schemes and compares them with tactics commonly seen during the later stages of pig-butchering scams.

A victim may be told that money visible in an account cannot be released until another payment is made. The supposed requirement might be described as a tax, withdrawal charge, commission, security deposit, verification payment, compliance fee or another obligation.

The terminology is less important than the underlying pattern.

The investor has already deposited money. A balance may still appear on the platform. When the investor asks to withdraw, another payment suddenly becomes a condition for accessing the funds.

DFPI warns that such demands can develop into an ongoing cycle of fabricated requirements in which victims continue paying but ultimately never recover their investment.

Do Not Assume an Account Balance Represents Recoverable Funds

A convincing trading interface can create a dangerous sense of reassurance.

A website can display an assets page, transaction history, account balance or supposed investment profits. None of those visual elements independently proves that corresponding assets are actually being held for the customer.

The practical test comes when the customer attempts to withdraw.

If the platform will not release the funds and instead demands additional payments, the amount displayed on the screen should not be used as justification for sending more money.

This matters because victims can become trapped by the size of the apparent balance. Someone who believes $50,000 or $100,000 is waiting for them may consider another $5,000 payment worthwhile if they are told it will unlock the account.

But if the displayed balance is fictitious, the additional payment simply increases the loss.

The DFPI warning surrounding this case addresses precisely this type of back-end fee pattern.

Why DFPI Classifies the Case as a Pig Butchering Scam

DFPI categorizes the reported activity involving these domains as both a Fraudulent Trading Platform and a Pig Butchering Scam.

Pig-butchering investment schemes commonly involve building confidence before escalating the amount of money requested from a victim. A fraudulent trading environment may show apparent gains, encouraging the victim to believe the investment is performing successfully.

The difficulty often becomes apparent only when the victim attempts to take money out.

At that point, new conditions can appear. The victim may be told that taxes, fees or other payments must be made before the account can be released.

For anyone currently dealing with gobinao.com, pc.mociobo.com, static.f2nex.com or representatives connected with the reported Mociobo/starsx platform, AssetVault Recovery advises against sending further funds solely to satisfy a supposed withdrawal requirement.

Already Paid Gobinao.com? Preserve the Evidence

If you transferred cryptocurrency or bank funds in connection with this operation, preserve the underlying transaction evidence even if the websites are no longer accessible.

For cryptocurrency payments, retain:

  • the receiving wallet address;
  • transaction hash or TXID;
  • blockchain network used;
  • cryptocurrency and amount transferred;
  • date and time of the transaction;
  • exchange or wallet used to send the assets; and
  • any payment instructions supplied by the platform.

For bank transfers, preserve the beneficiary name, beneficiary account information, receiving bank, transfer reference, amount, currency and payment confirmation.

Communications are equally important. Save emails, text messages, WhatsApp or Telegram conversations, telephone numbers, social-media profiles and any correspondence explaining why payments were requested.

Also preserve screenshots showing account balances, trading activity, withdrawal requests and additional fee demands.

Because DFPI has identified multiple domains in this case, victims should also review their browser history and communications for references to pc.mociobo.com, gobinao.com and static.f2nex.com.

An Offline Website Does Not Erase Cryptocurrency Transactions

DFPI reports that the website involved in the consumer’s experience is no longer operational. That can remove access to account dashboards and other information displayed by the platform, but it does not necessarily eliminate the underlying financial trail.

Cryptocurrency transfers recorded on public blockchains generally remain associated with their transaction hashes and wallet addresses after a website disappears.

That distinction is important.

The balance displayed by a fraudulent trading platform may have little evidentiary value by itself. A genuine blockchain transaction, however, can establish that cryptocurrency moved from one address to another at a particular time.

Victims should therefore focus on preserving the actual payment trail rather than relying exclusively on screenshots of supposed profits or account balances.

AssetVault Recovery Assessment of Gobinao.com

The available regulator-published evidence supports a clear warning about gobinao.com.

DFPI connects the domain to a consumer complaint involving the Mociobo/starsx cryptocurrency trading platform. The victim reported depositing funds, encountering upfront fee demands when attempting to withdraw, being unable to recover the money and losing approximately $20,000.

Consumer screenshots also revealed the use of gobinao.com and static.f2nex.com alongside pc.mociobo.com. DFPI has published a screenshot of the Gobinao.com assets page and explicitly describes it as belonging to a fraudulent platform.

AssetVault Recovery therefore considers Gobinao.com a scam website and advises readers not to send cryptocurrency or additional withdrawal payments to the platform or to people claiming that another fee will release money supposedly held in an account.
